Maybe you live in fear because as a white parent you are painfully aware that your Brown child will not be offered the same veil of safety that you have. You send your child to school every day knowing that they are at the mercy of (hopefully) well-meaning systems who may or may not have done their own personal work to recognize and combat internalized white supremacy and other oppressive structures. We can explore how your own trauma may be triggered as you parent your child in a world that is not set up for their safety.

Perhaps you are feeling alienated from your parents because while you know your child is loved, your parent still insists that they ‘don’t see’ your child’s race and in not seeing their race, they won’t see the pitfalls or dangers that require more care and attention. Or worse, maybe your white family does not accept and recognize your child as part of the family.

You have read the research about children and racism, and realize that it is most certainly not too early to talk about bias and oppression; you want to learn how to discuss anti racism to your white children as a white parent. As a white parent you have recognized the power of surrounding your child with people who are different from them, but you want to explore how to do so without tokenizing other people and knowing how and when to stand up for others.

We will talk, strategize and heal. The actual roadmap can look many different ways, but successfully exploring and metabolizing white supremacy culture from our bodies has a few common denominators. I will support your introspection and examination of privilege. We will implement strategies that will promote continuing revelation for you, and consistent engagement in the work. Healing will come when our action fosters a world that is more equitable and just.
